Well, I believe I am officially becoming one of those moms. I cannot put an outfit together anymore. And yes, I know my clothes look like they are 10 years old -- well, they're not. I can't fit into those clothes. But now I'm just not a good shopper. I go to the store and am just baffled -- I don't know what to get, and if I do get something, I don't know what to wear it with.
So yesterday I went with my hip niece to the shoe store....they were having a great sale. But I couldn't make a final decision so I came home with 7 pairs of shoes. The intention is to choose 1 or 2 pairs and return the rest. Well, now my hip niece has gone home and I don't know what to do. I tried them on with my new skirt, and just felt out of it again.
So, I'm posting a picture of this skirt I bought. (These are not my legs, nor my stomach. This is a model.)

So the first question is, can I wear tights with it? (Mom with varicose veins needs tights.) And if so, what color? And then what shoes? And what shirt -- not a tightly tucked one like the model, that's for sure!
If you have suggestions, please let me know.
Well, I am far an away not a fashion expert, but i did google your question for you. it turns out that the "fashion experts" say that you can wear tights with denim. To quote: "Denim is more of a free for all in terms of what colors match but your shoes still need to tie in to the overall outfit. You can wear either black or brown shoes with denim, depending what you're wearing up top. Here's a scenerio... denim skirt, white blouse, brown sweater, brown tights, brown shoes. Or...denim skirt, black tights, black shoes, black top or light top with black belt, sweater, etc. Okay...the basic concept is to look at the outfit overall and make sure that the leg/foot color gets repeated up top."

Anyway, I think you'll look great in whatever! :-)

Thanks so much! Very helpful. I have been wondering about black tights. (And incidentally, I also have brown tights.) Maybe I should start googling all of my fashion woes. (:
ReplyDeleteThis is funny to me. You are so cute.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to know that if I feel so inclined I could match/be fashionable just by googling. Hmmm, I use the internet tons-but have never even thought about coordinating outfits that way. That is Awesome!
You are so funny Carol! I agree with you though, I have no idea what's in style or not and I probably wouldn't buy them if I did at this point. Who's going to see me in fancy clothes? I guess Jordan would though I don't think he would care too much! :)
