St***d

Well, Andrew has picked up another bad habit from me. The word is "stupid" (I hope that st***d doesn't stand for some other foul word.)

The other day Andrew was out digging in the garden. I went to see how he was doing...

"Hey Andrew, how's it going?"
"Oh, hi Mom. I was just calling this truck stupid."
"Andrew, I wish you wouldn't say that word. It's not nice."
"Oh. But you weren't here to hear me."

I was surprised a 3-year-old would come up with that kind of logic. "If mom's not here, it's okay to say whatever I want!"

Here's another fun conversation we had the other day:

"How was nursery today Andrew?"
"Good. I hit that other boy."
"That's too bad. Why did you hit him?"
"I wanted the truck."
"Well Andrew, you are not supposed to hit other people."
"But Mom, I LOVE to hit people."

Oh great.

  1. That is so funny. Those things both sound like things my little girl would say.

  3. Funny stories, as always, Carol! So glad we have theses kids to keep us laughing! And hey, I wish I could send my kids out to dig in the garden. It's one of those things that's been on my to-do list for about 12 years now. Nice job!

  4. Little boys are so much fun. They are just rough and tumble. I wouldn't change it for the world.

  5. Your conversations with Andrew are hilarious; he is a very bright boy. My Madeline is three as well and I enjoy this age so much. She "swears" too--she enjoys toilet talk and thinks she is quite clever. Of course, Maddie is a lover and not a fighter: she has a "prince husband" and she takes this imaginary friend very seriously. ...Annalise never had this type of friend; I wonder what sets it off in some children... (by the way, this is your cousin Kimberlee...just in case "Lefty" is a stretch!
