Persimmon Four Square

I made this quilt using a charm pack of "Persimmon" by Basic Grey.  I really liked this collection when I first saw it.  The orangish "persimmon" color, the small patterns, the blues.  I still like it, but I wish I had done different background colors -- maybe navy and off white?  I wanted to use what I had in my stash, but after all is said and done, I probably should have just spent a little bit of money and bought some background fabric.

The pattern I used is from Amy Smart's book "Fabulously Fast Quilts." (I also made this quilt with the same pattern.)  I adjusted the pattern slightly so I could use the 5" charm squares.

For the backing I also wanted to use fabric from my stash.  It took me a while to decide.  The tan gingham was perfect, but I didn't have quite enough.  This blue was one of the few other fabrics that matched -- so there it is.  The binding is done with this super, super soft woven cotton with tan and navy.  I had considered using this on the back, but I really love it and so I decided to keep it for a quilt I will keep.  This one will be donated.

Here is a close up of the loopy, meandering quilting.

I am finishing this just under the deadline -- binding it and posting it on Sept. 30.  Phew!  You can see from the pictures, it's getting dark outside!

This is on my list of Finish-a-long goals for Quarter 3 of 2017.
